About Us:

For nearly a century, our full-service Equine Hospital has been a major referral center in the Midwest for horses requiring specialized medical and surgical care.  Today, we are nationally known for providing the foremost in patient care, technology, and education.  The Equine Hospital has been a leader in research into equine diseases and has been first to apply these findings in the clinical setting to improve the lives of horses.

In a typical year, we see about 3,000 equine patients.  Services in the Equine Hospital are provided by board-certified specialists and include advanced diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, surgery, internal medicine, lameness diagnosis and rehabilitation, reproductive care, podiatry, and emergency and critical care medicine.  Currently there are five board-certified surgeons, four board-certified internal medicine specialists, three board-certified emergency medicine and critical care specialists, a lameness expert, two board-certified anesthesiologists, and five board-certified radiologists on our faculty.  Specialists in cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, oncology and ophthalmology are also available in-house to consult on equine cases. Each of the specialty areas trains residents and students when seeing your animals, but are closely supervised.   At present there are six residents training in the Equine Hospital.

We thank you for your past support and the role you have played in making this one of the leading equine hospitals in the country.  If there is anything we can do to improve your experience with our hospital, please contact 517-353-9710 and ask to speak to our Section Chief or Chief of Staff.
