Shooting Star’s success relies on experience and proven thoroughbred expertise.
The idea to form Shooting Star Thoroughbreds came together over a casual lunch conversation with family and friends at a horse sale. It was immediately obvious what a perfect fit starting a thoroughbred syndicate would be for Mary Lightner, who comes from a family of lifelong horse people. She made the decision to move forward that day and hasn’t looked back.
Mary, who was training horses in Florida, Kentucky and Toronto, stepped away from that role and manages the syndicate. Mike Lightner and Raymie Lightner, both top respected bloodstock agents who select horses for the best trainers in the country, will be instrumental in choosing the horses for the syndicate. Lisa Goodin, a thoroughbred owner and horse enthusiast, will help maintain the day to day operations.
