"Gone West" are two words with much meaning for Manuel “Manny” Andrade, one of the Ocala area’s newer thoroughbred farm owners. The former resident of the Azores Islands, who did indeed go west crossing the Atlantic to make his fortune, bought Breakaway Farm from Randy and Linda Mills in 2005 and renamed it Get Away Farm. Andrade purchased the farm upon the suggestion of his grandchildren, but his involvement would not end there.
Following the acquisition of the Ocala property, Andrade took the next step to becoming a major player in the Thoroughbred industry and purchased full interest in the Gone West stallion Double Honor, from Farnsworth Farms.
Located on 100 acres in northwest Marion County, the farm is a full service breeding, boarding, lay-upand sales -prep facility.
Get Away Farm operates with a professional staff under the supervision of manager, Larry Anderson. A native Ocalan and veteran horseman, Anderson entered the Thoroughbred world 20 years ago. Rising the managerial ladder and serving terms overseeing weanling, yearling, broodmare, racehorse and stallion divisions, he remains a solid asset to the continued growth and success at Get Away Farm.
