Testimony
Best Experience as an Owner:
Watching Boom Box win three races in a row at Arlington Park (Arlington Heights, Illinois) during the summer of 2015
What I like about Thoroughbred Racing:
Learning about the horses and "sport of kings and queens," being up close to the action/equine athletes (particularly the ones I'm part-owner of), meeting new/old friends, the competition, the adrenaline rush, and the "thrill of victory"
How I Became a Thoroughbred Owner:
Being a casual bettor since the early 90s, I always wondered what it would be like to be in the owner's shoes. After much research, I took that leap in March 2009 when I became part-owner of a filly via Horseplayers Racing Club (Renton, Washington).
Best Advice:
I'm not exactly an "old hand" in the ownership game, but horses always first. (Continuing) education, due diligence, lots of patience, professional respect, and a healthy dose of realism might be considered. Individual antics poison to partnerships.
