Testimony
Best Experience as an Owner:
Zabarajad, who is a complicated horse, winning in his first start on the turf in the U.S. Only the people that know the horse know what that win meant. All of our other wins were amazing too!
What I like about Thoroughbred Racing:
I love thoroughbreds! I love the animal, I love the pace of the industry and I love the travel involved.
How I Became a Thoroughbred Owner:
I have been involved in horses since I was a child. I saw my first race at the age of 3, became involved in the industry in my 20s, and married a trainer.
Best Advice:
There are a lot of highs and lows in this game...sometimes you have to stick out the tough times knowing the good times are bound to come again.
Owner Bio

I am an owner based in Maryland that also functions as the CEO of Somerset Racing, LLC. I have been involved in racing for many years. After working in the field of psychology for 15 years, running our racing business is now my full time work. My brother James, who has a PhD in genetics and a great deal of experience in international business, functions as the President of our venture. Somerset Racing provides excellent training for thoroughbred racehorses at Fair Hill training Center under the tutelage of trainer (and my husband), Scott Hammond. We also provide bloodstock services and specialize in European acquisitions.

The first runner for Somerset Racing, Belgian Beer, won in his first start for the stable, and our first European acquisition, Zabarajad won in his first American start on the turf which was an Allowance race. Our horse Mandatum (ranked 95th by wins in 2012) also did very well for us and we have now added a filly to our stable by the name of Mary's Mystique. We are striving to have a decent class of horse in our stable and to win! We also value our horses for the amazing animals and athletes that they are and believe in making sure our racehorses are happy, healthy and have good retirements when the time comes. Good luck in all of your racing endeavours and please visit us at www.SomersetRacing.com.
