Begin your trainer research by reviewing the statistics, profiles, ratings, top horses, methods and practices and rulings for any active trainer. Once you develop a short list of trainers, consider including the questions below in your discussion with each trainer.

Q) How often do you communicate with your owners?

Q) What is your standard day rate?

Q) What do you charge for percentage of earnings?

Q) How do you enlist the services of a veterinarian for the day-to-day management of horses in your care?

Q) What can I expect each month in the way of veterinary charges?

Q) Do you charge additional fees for feed supplements, vitamins, ulcer treatment or any anything else? If so please explain.
