Our hope is that through this site and blog you will gain an understanding of our love for the fertile land we are privileged to steward, and the horses who call Mill Ridge home. Founded in 1962, by my mother Alice Headley Chandler, Mill Ridge Farm has so positively shaped the Thoroughbred industry whether past or present, international or local, the impact is immeasurable. From the 1968 Epsom Derby winner Sir Ivor, to the 32 Grade 1 winners raised and/or sold since 2000, the Mill Ridge story is extraordinary! Today finds Mom in her 80's still active on the farm, while the day-to-day management is my endeavor. Prior to becoming managing partner, my primary occupation was founding Nicoma Bloodstock, which provided consulting services to Mill Ridge clients for over 30 years. Nicoma continues to thrive today with the assistance of my son Price. Through Nicoma, I assisted with the matings of two consecutive Kentucky Derby winners, 2006 Barbaro, and 2007 Street Sense, as well as 2011 American Horse of the Year Havre de Grace, and 2011 Canadian Horse of the Year Never Retreat, you will find yourself in very capable hands with our team at Mill Ridge Farm and/or Nicoma Bloodstock. Whether you choose to board here, sell with us, or breed to our stallions, we are sure that the Mill Ridge commitment to both the future of the Thoroughbred and to your success will change the way that you perceive the horse business. Allow us to share with you the craft that has captivated our family for six generations.
