Having managed one of the World's icon Thoroughbred Farms (Windfields Farm) for a career my wife Karen and I have moved on to owning our own farm business (Mapleshade Farm). Though we operate the farm privately in order to keep it small, we operate Cara Bloodstock as a full public sale agency with a focus on selling in the Canadian and US auction markets. With annual auction receipts of $3 million in each of the last two years (2012, 2013) we have in the last 5 years become the number one Canadian based thoroughbred sales agency. Working with the horses is it's own reward but it is much more than that. The word Cara is gaelic for Friend which is what our the horses and horsepeople are. We are lucky to work in the spirit of friendstip for the success of the horses and those that own and breed them. Living ones dream that is what Cara Bloodstock is to us. This is not an easy business but you will meet some of the most inspiring and truly dedicated people in it. International Thoroughbred Sales Agency, Mapleshade Stud is home base for our thoroughbred operation of 20 horses. Top price attained at Auction $1.2 million for PACHATTACK in 2011. Ranked amongst the leading Canadian breeders by earnings in 2012. Agency sold grade1 winner WE MISS ARTIE for breeder Richard Lister at Keeneland as a yearling in 2012.
