The centerpiece of the farm is the main training barn. Completed in 2007, there was no stone left unturned in the conception and construction of this 112-stall state-of-the-art structure. Designed for maximum safety and a healthy environment, there is excellent ventilation, the stalls are padded, and the floors have mats. The wash racks are also padded and there are two European-style hot walkers and a figure-eight round pen, along with numerous turnout paddocks. In addition to the main training barn, there are three other barns devoted to horses of racing age which provide a total of over 200 stalls. Each of these barns has been designed with a shedrow, providing excellent ventilation as well as safety and added protection for your valuable horses. All of these barns have adjacent spacious turnout paddocks.
Lambholm South offers a professionally designed state-of-the-art one-mile dirt training track. The sweeping turns and long straightaways easily simulate what horses will encounter at major racing venues. Our eight furlong dirt training track has two one furlong chutes, where horses receive extensive gate work as they are readied for their racing career. Lambholm South also features a six and a half furlong turf course in addition to the main training track. Combining starting-gate work and daily turf-training regimens, young horses become thoroughly prepared for a successful racing career.
The training program at Lambholm South is customized to each horse in order to develop individual talents and potential. Under the guidance of renowned horseman Junior Serna, the farm's graduates include champions Slew o' Gold, Epitome, Personal Ensign, Flawlessly, Ajina, Escena, Farda Amiga, Azeri, Speightstown and Saint Liam.
"I will not let a horse leave the farm that is not physically fit and able to handle the demands of competition," Serna says. "It isn't a matter of pride. It is about doing what is right by the horse."
