About Us:

Beginning with the first sale that was held in 1958, the Ruidoso Horse Sale Company has had year after year of some of the top horses in the industry sold.

In 2014, the Thoroughbred portion of the New Mexico-bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs continued the upward trend set the by the quarter horse session with thoroughbred yearlings showing a 12.7 percent increase per horse sold on Saturday night.

The thoroughbred yearlings averaged $9,233 per horse sold compared to $8,194 per horse sold in 2013.

A total of 10 thoroughbred yearlings sold for $30,000 or more with a sale-topper at $87,000.

The $87,000 yearling is a son of Roll Hennessy Roll and out stakes winner and stakes-winning producer Thunder Bertie, a daughter of Thunder Gulch. Thunder Bertie earned $122,950 and won the Grade 3 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes. She is the dam of the stakes winning Saint Ballado filly Ballad of Bertie, who earned $198,894.

The unnamed colt was consigned by A & A Ranch, LLC and bought by Joe Dee Brooks.

The second high seller is a son of Tin Can Sailor and Multitasker, by Bertrando. Multitasker is a half-sister to 2013 champion two-year-old colt Shared Belief, winner of the Grade 1, $375,000 Cash Call Futurity. She is also a full sister to the stakes-placed Double Major, third in the Sunshine Million Oaks.

The colt sold for $55,000 to Jim McClintic and came out of the Double LL Farms consignment.
